Exciting news!!!!

The baby has arrived!!!
The baby I was knitting the baby blanket for has arrived. She is a BEAUTIFUL baby girl called Evie and I've been asked to be God Mother!!!!! :) I am so excited and chuffed. I keep thinking about all the lovely things I can make for her. :)))))  (and all the mischief we can get up to! :))

On top of that excitement (although nothing could match that!) it's Dr Lucy's 30th Birthday today. We're 'celebrating' by going on guide camp. Actually, the camp is nothing to do with Lucy's birthday. But thats where we're going this weekend. It's the best weekend of the year with my bestest friend and I love it.

So I'm a pretty happy bunny right now. :)

I wont think about the fact that 'him indoors' is off on a business trip for 10 days at the weekend :(

The evolution of Socks

So here they are.......  Well, here is the beginning of one of them. But it seems to be going ok so far!

I know the photos are rubbish, sorry. But I love the colours.

Socks

Having 'rabbited' my sock project twice already I've made my third and final attempt at a pair of socks using my Crazy Zauberball in Indian Rose.
I havent really found a pattern to follow that really seems to fit the wool so its trial and error but I've finally gone with casting on 60 stitches.

Has anyone got any idea what I should be doing?

Help!

Blogs

I love coming home from a long hard day at work and seeing how many people (if any) have read my blog since I last logged in. But more than that I love catching up on some of the blogs I have become a little obsessed with.

http://crochethealingandraymond.wordpress.com/

This is a personal favourite. I just wish I had the time and yarn stash to create such colourful stuff.

This lady creates the most amazing crocheted creatures. I can only wonder where she gets the ideas from.

I want to know how she has time to fit it all in and be a full time mum!

I think this blog inspired me to finally start my own blog. I LOVE the stuff that Lucy creates. She's amazing. I love her crocheted blankets. I just want to snuggle up under one.

So pop over and have a look. They are truely inspirational!

Finished!

I've finished my reports!!!!  WAHOOOO!  What a relief!

They probably need a little tinkering with but the hard work is done!

For Christmas last year my mum bought me this pattern (and the yarn to make it with) and it's been obediently hiding away in a basket in the living room waiting for me to have 1,000,000 more important things to do before it shouts 'Make me woman, Make me!' and I have to get it out and have a go.

It's got some cabelling in it which I've never tackled before so really the sensible thing to do would be to make sure I can do that. But I'm really tempted to get it out.

Anyway, I have homework for my course. I need to find a spelling pattern and email it to the rest of the 'students'. So I suppose I should do that really. The cardigan can wait a few more months........ :(

I'm a student again

The other reason I havent had any knitting time and that I'm going out of my mind, is that I'm studying again. I have embarked on a Specialist Dyslexia Teaching course. It's the equivalent of 1/3 of a masters and lasts a year. It's going to be a MASSIVE undertaking but the little that we've done already has been really interesting and hopefully it will give me a better insight into the difficulties children with Dyslexia face. It's fascinating. SEN is definately an area I want to focus on in the future and I couldn't let the opportunity to do a £2500 course for free go past.

So when I'm not report writing I'm trying to read through the massive pile of books I'm collecting. :(

At the moment I'm battling with this one.........

It's about neuroscience so pretty heavy going.

Anyway, wish me luck. I think it's going to take over my life until the summer holidays.
No more knitting for a while. :(

New Kid on the Block.

Some of our neighbours moved out last week. We were pretty sad to see them go as they had become pretty good friends over the 4 years they'd been around.

But we met the new neighbour yesterday. She seems lovely AND she can knit. So I'm hoping I'll be able to get her to show me how to knit socks the right size.

Maybe we can hold some crafty coffee mornings with Ellie-Petillant.

Anyway..... back to the reports. :( zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

All work and no knitting

Makes Nicky a dull girl.

Reports reports reports
SEN SEN SEN

aaaaaaaaaaggggghhhhhhhh

Ironically I'm really enjoying my job at the moment (I cant always say that!)
But I am SOOOOO busy. Meetings and paperwork coming out of my ears.
I'm still working on my laptop now sending emails like  they're going out of fashion.

JUST LET ME KNIT!  :(

Hope everyone else is having lots of yarn time.

Smelling of roses

Ok, so my reports STILL arent finished, and neither is my planning and as a result my stress levels are rising. BUT. I have made these from the book I mentioned before.

They are a much nicer colour than the photos show. They were fun.

Back to the reports I guess :(
Today is the last day of the half term holiday. I always get that Sunday feeling you used to get when you were a child at the end of a holiday and dred going back to work. My reports still arent finished and I remembered last night that I'm supposed to be planning a week's worth of Drug's awareness lessons too. :(

Would rather lie on the sofa snoozing, drinking tea and doing a little bit of knitting.

Am not a happy bunny today :(

Back to square one

I pulled the socks apart. I gave up. They were never going to fit over my ankles, despite how thin I might like to think they are! So they've gone.

I really should be writing reports. :(

What next?

I've just handed over the baby blanket, ready and in time for the arrival.

So now I need another project. I still have the socks, and they're coming on ok but i quite fancy knitting some flowers.

I've never knitted in the round before so I was quite pleased it worked. I'm not really sure what pattern i'm following or if they'll fit but it will be fun finding out. And I LOVE the wool.

But I quite fancy some of these:

It's a bit of a pie in the sky project but we'll see how it goes.  I've got some lovely Debbie Bliss wool to have a go with :

We'll see how it goes. There's a lovely rose pattern i'm going to try.

But really I should be writing reports :(
